![The image shows a crash test dummy seated in a vehicle, ready for a crash test. The dummy is equipped with various sensors and instruments to measure the impact and effects of the crash. The background appears to be a controlled testing environment, likely a laboratory or testing facility. The purpose of the image is to illustrate the safety testing procedures and the use of crash test dummies in evaluating vehicle safety.](https://lightness.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/VTI_1_Crash-test-dummy-1024x575.jpg)
The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) is an independent and internationally prominent research institute in the transport sector, and conducts research and development that contributes actively to the attainment of the goals of Swedish transport policy. Within traffic safety, VTI leads the development of different models of humans to be able to evaluate, among other things, protection against whiplash injuries in dynamic collision simulations.
Our consultants have contributed to the development of finite elements versions of mechanical human models.
